We had a very Happy start to our New Year! We had applied to the Southern Co-op Green COP fund for a grant last Autumn and these things take a while to go through due process. However, in early January we received the welcome news that our application had been approved!
The grant will help with the costs of looking after the pond and go towards some of the projects we have in mind. One of these which we hope to do in March is to do some supplementary seeding of native wild flowers on the banks. This not only makes a colourful and interesting display, it also provides essential nutrition for pollinating insects which in turn attracts more birds. Win-win-win!
